Former CEC Justice Abdur Rouf passes away

![]() He passed away at 10 am today, Sunday (February 9) while undergoing treatment at Insaf Barakah Hospital. This information was confirmed by Sarwar Wadud Chowdhury, General Secretary of the National Anti-Corruption Coordination Committee. Sarwar Wadud Chowdhury said, Abdur Rouf Sir underwent heart surgery at United Hospital at 5 pm yesterday. But due to low heart rate, a pacemaker was installed in his heart. But he did not return to us. He was 91 years old. Incidentally, Justice Mohammad Abdur Rauf served as the Chief Election Commissioner from 1990 to 1995. Apart from that, he is currently the Chairman of the National Anti-Corruption Coordination Committee and President of the National Children's Organization Fulkuri and Shariah Advisor to Fareast Islamic Life Insurance Co. Ltd. and Prime Islamic Life Insurance. His personal assistant Md. Towhid said, "Sir was quite ill for two months, undergoing treatment in the hospital. He died in the hospital a little while ago. As per the family's decision, he will be buried in his village home, Mymensingh, after completing the formalities in Dhaka." |
