Six months of the interim government: To what extent have expectations been met?

![]() The interim government has gone through these six months amidst various challenges. The police force has not yet returned to its normal course of work. The armed forces are in the field with executive magisterial powers. However, the chaotic situation in which this government took office has returned to some degree of order. Although various steps have been taken to control the market, they have not been successful. Food inflation is still above 10 percent. Controlling inflation, attracting new investments, and revitalizing the economy are now among the major challenges. Public life is often brought to a standstill by various movements over demands. Keeping them under control has also become a major challenge. The trial of Sheikh Hasina and other top leaders of the Awami League in the July assassination is underway at the International Crimes Tribunal. The government wants to complete the trial within this year. Reforms have been one of the most discussed issues since the interim government took office. On this day, the government's 6th month anniversary, the full report of the 6th Reform Commission is being handed over to the Chief Advisor. Discussions also remain about elections. In a recent interview with Japanese broadcaster NHK, chief adviser Muhammad Yunus said that elections could be held later this year. One of the successes of the interim government in six months has been preventing the collapse of foreign exchange reserves. |
